2008 Field Technique Series - No Cost
Four weekend-overnight trips and one day-trip on November 15th to practice snow travel skills.
August 16-17 or 23-24 (your choice) September 20-21 or 27-28 (your choice) October 18-19 November 15 December 6-7
There is no cost for the Field Technique Series. Food and transportation provided by students.
You must be currently enrolled or have previously completed the Classroom Seminars to participate in the Field Technique Sessions. Backpacking gear is not provided; you may rent, purchase or share the necessary gear. This will be covered in class and we will help you evaluate your options.
The trips involved in the Field Technique Series are not overly strenuous. All trips are under 3 miles for the entire weekend and 1,800’ of elevation gain. On most of our trips the campsites are located approximately one mile from trailheads, with 600’ - 1,000’ gain in elevation. This is so we have time to cover field techniques on day trips from camp. Students should be comfortable hiking at “B” level and will be placed in small groups to accommodate a wide variety of age and fitness levels.
